Fred Duesenberg's Final Journey
Hard back book
Fred Duesenberg's Final Journey chronicles Duesenberg's fateful journey that began in Philadelphia. His legacy is forever present in the Schellsburg, Jennerstown, and Johnstown, Pennsylvania communities. Several 1932 newspaper accounts and published books contain differing descriptions, derived from word of mouth, second-hand information, or reporters taking sensational liberties, a journalistic practice prevalent at the time. Some questions remain unanswered, and records, such as a state police report, either do not exist or have not yet surfaced.
The Classic Car Assistant Editor, Chris Summers, noted, "The September 1981 and October 2004 issues of The Classic Car included stories of Fred Duesenberg's accident at the wheel of one of his cars and subsequent passing. However, the well-known story has never been covered or thoroughly researched until now." As is often revealed by a detailed revisiting of a long-lived tale, there is a lot more left to tell. Enjoy the journey into the past and this special tribute to one of the greatest automobile pioneers ever.
