This is an excellent book on an interesting topic. The author knows his subject, has access to all the right people and documents, and writes well. The book is almost a case study that illuminates the evolution of the entire auto industry over 60 year by focusing on the concept/show cars of a single brand. It could serve as a model for books on similar subjects.

The author puts each car he writes about in context in terms of the shifting market, developing technology, and the current attitude of General Motors management. Most books that focus on a single brand ignore these types of issues. The last chapter must have been a difficult one to write for a Pontiac fan. It chronicles the feeble efforts to save a redundant brand in a hostile corporate environment.
